Platypus knot is one of the masterpieces of Noel Junio and is a really cool style to wear to formal and festive gatherings. It’s really simple to tie and all you have to do is follow the steps below to execute the perfect look. So let’s get started.

Step-1 Drape the necktie around your collar such that the wide end is on your left side while the narrow end hangs on the right side. This knot is tied using the narrow end so make sure to keep it comparatively longer than the other end. The wide end should be positioned slightly above the belly button.

Step-2 Pinch the wide end to create a dimple in it and bring it to the middle.

Step-3 Cross the wide end underneath the narrow end from left to right.

Step-4 Make the narrow end go around the back of the wide end so that it enters into the right region.

Step-5 Feed the narrow end up through the collar loop loosely. This would create another loop on top of the collar loop. Bring down the narrow end through this other loop that you’ve just created.

Step-6 Tighten the knot and push it close to the collar. At this stage, your narrow end would lie on top of the wide end with the seam facing outward.

Step-7 Flip the narrow end up over the front of the tie knot and bring it straight back down from behind the knot. Keep it loose enough so that a loop is created at the level of the knot. This loop is the characteristic feature of the Platypus knot.

Step-8 Bring the narrow end to the right side and wrap it up high in front of the knot, bringing the narrow end into the left region.

Step-9 Feed the narrow end up through the back of the collar loop and bring it back down from the center and across to the right side.

Step-10 Bring the narrow end around the back of the knot, creating an oblique loop on the right side of the knot.

Step-11 Feed the tip of the narrow end from the left side into the oblique loop and tuck the remaining end behind the collar to hide it.

Step-12 Pull down the collar and tighten the knot. Push the knot upward so that it lies at the center of the collar.

And congratulations! You did it successfully. Platypus knot looks best when worn with solid ties and is a suitable choice for all men and all kind of ties. It is an average sized knot thus a medium spread collar would be enough to accommodate it. Good luck trying!
