Pekada knot is a rare but extremely intricate knot that requires a lot of skill on the side of the tier. Let’s teach you how to tie the Pekada knot in the simplest way possible.

Step-1Drape the necktie around your collar such that the wide end is on your left side and the narrow end hangs on your right side. This knot is tied using the wide end so it will be comparatively longer than the narrow end, positioned around the level of mid thigh.

Step-2Bring the wide end to the middle and cross the narrow end to the left side from over the wide end.

Step-3Wrap the wide end across the front of the narrow end by making it emerge into the left region with the seam facing outward.

Step-4 Take the wide end all the way around the back of the narrow end and bring it back into the left region again, thus completing a 360 degree turn.

Step-5With the seam facing outward, feed the wide end beneath the collar loop on the left side and bring it back down on the same side.

Step-6Bring the wide end around the back of the knot, creating an oblique loop on your way. This loop would be present on the left of the knot and let’s refer to this as ‘Loop 1’..

Step-7 With the wide end now in the right region, feed it up through the front of the collar loop. While feeding the wide end, a big loop would be created on the right side of the knot. Let’s call it ‘Loop 2’.

Step-8 Bring the wide end down through Loop 2. This would make your wide end lie beneath the narrow end.

Step-9Do not tighten Loop 1 and Loop 2 at this stage. Tuck the narrow end in your collar to make the remaining steps easier.

Step-10Bring the wide end into the left region from front of Loop 1 and take it around the back of the knot. .

Step-11Feed the wide end again through Loop 2, this time bringing it from back to front.

Step-12Bring the wide end into the right region and take it behind the knot to feed it through Loop 2 one more time from behind.

Step-13Bring the narrow end down and tighten each loop gently.

Step-14The final look would be that of an enormous knot, lying in the center of the collar with the wide end positioned underneath the narrow end.

Step-15You may pull on the narrow end to push the knot further up.

And you’re done! Congratulations for tying this extremely challenging knot with such perfection. This knot uses a lot of fabric of the wide end which makes it end up a couple of inches above the beltline. For this reason, it’s preferable to wear a vest on top to make your knot the focus of attention rather than the ends of your necktie.
