This knot is the creation of the mastermind Anatoliy Zhygarev and we’ve simplified the steps for your better understanding. Tying the Diamond knot is a piece of cake for experts while the beginners can learn it with a little practice.

Step-1 Drape the necktie around the collar with the wide end hanging on the left side and the narrow end on the right side. This knot is tied using the narrow end thus it should be kept longer at the level of mid thigh with the wide end around the belly button.

Step-2 Pinch the wide end to create a dimple in it.

Step-3 Cross the narrow end to the left side from the front of the wide end.

Step-4 Feed the narrow end up through the back of the loop around the collar, making it emerge from the front on the opposite side.

Step-5 Take the narrow end and bring it around the back of the knot to the left side. This would create an oblique loop on the right side of the knot.

Step-6 Feed the tip of the narrow end into this oblique loop thus bringing it from left to right side. This step would create another loop, this time on the left side of the knot. Let’s refer to it as ‘Loop 1’.

Step-7 Feed the narrow end through the top of the necktie knot and bring it back down on the same side.

Step-8 Take the tip of the narrow end and bring it through Loop 1 on the left side.

Step-9 Feed the narrow end up through the back of the collar loop on the left side and bring it down from the front on the same side.

Step-10 Feed the narrow end into Loop 1 again, bringing it from left to right side.

Step-11 Tighten each component of the knot by pulling on each fold, one at a time.

Step-12 Wrap the narrow end around the back of the wide end, creating a new loop which may be referred to as ‘Loop 2’.

Step-13 Feed the tip of the narrow end into Loop 2 from left to right side.

Step-14 Wrap the narrow end around the collar to conceal it.

Step-15 Adjust the knot so that each component of the diamond is smooth and symmetrical.

Step-16 Tug on the wide end to push the knot towards the center of the collar.

And there you are! All set to flaunt this amazing knot around your audience. Diamond knot is a fairly symmetrical, medium sized knot that is suitable for both formal and casual events. It works well with solid and pattern ties. Working with stripes can be a risk because the folds may give a haphazard look. Good luck trying!
