The mastermind behind this amazing knot is David Wilson. We have brought to you a step by step guide to help you learn how to tie a Viper knot. Follow it carefully and you’d realize it’s a piece of cake for almost everyone.

Step-1 Drape the necktie around your collar in such a way that the wide end hangs on the left side and the narrow end on the right side. This knot is tied using the narrow end thus it would be placed a few inches lower than the wide end.

Step-2 Pinch the wide end to create a dimple in its center.

Step-3 Cross the wide end from left to right from underneath the narrow end.

Step-4 Wrap the narrow end around the back of the wide end to make it emerge from the right side.

Step-5 Feed the narrow end up through the back of your collar loop on the right side and bring it back down on the opposite side. Keep the knot nice and tight.

Step-6 Cross the narrow end from front of the forming back towards the right side.

Step-7 Feed the narrow end up from underneath the collar loop and bring it back down from the center region. This would make the narrow end lie on top of the wide end with the seam facing inward.

Step-8 Wrap the narrow end around the back of the knot from right to left.

Step-9 Feed the narrow end once again through the collar loop to make it emerge from the same side.

Step-10 Cross the narrow end over the top of the knot from left to right.

Step-11 Feed the narrow end up through the loop around the collar on the right side and bring it back down on the same side.

Step-12 Bring the narrow end around the back of the knot one more time and tuck it underneath the collar of the same side.

Step-13 Tug on the wide end to push the knot up against the center of the collar. Tighten it accordingly.

Congratulations! You’re done already. Viper knot looks best when worn with solid ties because it accentuates the folds of the knot. Paisleys would impart a chaotic look and patterns would look haphazard. So opt for dark or neutral colors to tie this amazing knot. Self printed ties would also look acceptable. Viper knot is one of the easiest knots known to man and even the beginners can tie it perfectly in one go.
