Mr. Linwood is the inventor of this intricate, artichoke shaped knot that imparts an elegant aura to any ensemble. We bring to you a step by step guide to help you learn how to tie the Artichoke knot so let’s get started.
Step-1 Drape the necktie around your collar such that the wide end hangs on the right shoulder above the belly button while the narrow end is substantially longer than the wide end and placed on the right shoulder.
Step-2 Take the wide end and pinch it to create a dimple.
Step-3 Cross the wide end to the right side from underneath the narrow end.
Step-4 Feed the narrow end up and through the back of the collar loop to make it emerge from the opposite side. Keep the loops really tight from the beginning so you don’t run out of material in the end.
Step-5 Cross the narrow end to the left side from around the back of the knot.
Step-6 Feed it up through the front of the collar loop and bring it back down from the center. This would make the narrow end lie exactly beneath the wide end with the seam facing inward.
Step-7 Cross the narrow end to the right side.
Step-8 Feed the narrow end through the collar loop on the right side and bring it back down from the left side.
Step-9 Feed it again through the collar loop on the left side and bring it back down on the opposite side. This marks the completion of the second set of passes.
Step-10 Feed the narrow end through the collar loop on the right side to make it emerge from the bottom of the loop on the left side.
Step-11 Feed it one last time through the collar loop on the left side and bring it back down on the right side. This marks the completion of the third set of passes.
Step-12 To finish off, tuck the tip of the narrow end through the last loop on the left side and pull it all the way upward. Conceal the remaining fabric behind the collar.
Step-13 Hold onto the knot and tug down on the big end to tighten the knot and position it in close proximity to the center of the collar.
Congratulations! You’ve been successful in pulling off the perfect Artichoke knot. As you’d see, the steps are really simple and all you need is a little frailty while making the passes. Good luck trying!
